Simply put blood glucose level is the amount of glucose or sugar in the blood of any mammal. It is also called as plasma glucose level. Blood glucose level is expressed as millimoles per liter (mmol/l). A person suffering from diabetes has blood glucose levels that are beyond the normal limits. Normally the glucose level stays within narrow limits throughout the day ranging from 4 to 8mmol/l. The level is higher after meals and usually lowest in the mornings before the first meal is taken.

The blood glucose level is tightly regulated in the human body as part of the metabolic homeostasis. Usually the total amount of glucose circulating in the human blood is about 3.3 to 7g assuming that the blood volume is normal (5 liters blood in an average adult male). Glucose is the primary source of energy for the functions of body’s cells. It is transported via the bloodstream from intestines or liver to body cells.

Failure to maintain the level of glucose in the normal range leads to conditions of persistently low (hypoglycemia) or high (hyperglycemia) blood sugar. Stable blood glucose levels are highly important. A person with diabetes often has sugar levels beyond the normal range. Glucose levels higher than the range may lead to late stage complications like neuropathy, retinopathy, nephropathy, cerebrovascular disease and cardiovascular diseases.

Tests to Measure blood glucose levels:

There are different types of blood glucose tests that can be undertaken. The ones commonly used are fasting blood sugar (FBS) which involves measuring levels after you have not eaten for at least 8 hours. This is the first test commonly done to check for diabetes. You can also take 2-hour postprandial blood sugar test that involves checking sugar level exactly 2 hours after you eat a meal.

Random blood sugar (RBS) test measures glucose regardless of when you had your last meal. Blood sugar levels in healthy people do not vary widely throughout the day and any variance indicates a problem. The Oral glucose tolerance test is used to diagnose pre-diabetes and diabetes. This test is commonly undertaken to test for gestational diabetes.

Another test that can help you find blood sugar level over a period of time is known as the HbA1c test which shows the average blood sugar level over the previous six to eight weeks. HbA1c is a compound that is produced when chemical reaction between hemoglobin and glucose takes place. This is called as glycated hemoglobin. HbA1c levels rise only when there is consistent high blood sugar level. It is 6% of total hemoglobin for people without diabetes and 7.5% with patients with only a fair control of diabetes. If HbA1c is above 8.5% shows very poor control of diabetes.

Levels of blood sugar:

Blood glucose test measures the sugar levels in your blood. The normal levels for fasting blood glucose test are 70-99 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) or less than 5.5mmol/L. For the postprandial test they are 70- 145 mg/dL or less than 7.9mmol/L and between 70 – 125 mg/dL i.e. less than 7.0mmol/L for the Random test. Normal results may vary a little bit from lab to lab. The higher values that would often be used to find whether you have diabetes may be from multiple types of tests on two different days. Fasting levels more than 126 mg/dL (7.0mmol/L) or more are high levels. Similarly another test like oral glucose tolerance test may give result of 200mg/dL (11.1mmol/L) or more. These test done on two different days and showing higher level with other symptoms of diabetes, are either due to diabetes or may sometimes be the result of severe stress, stroke, heart attack or excess production of growth hormone. Fasting levels below 40mg/dL (2.2mmol/L) in women and 50mg/dL among men are considered as low values and may be caused due Addison’s disease, hypothyroidism, liver diseases, kidney failure or malnutrition.

With several types of test available to measure your blood glucose levels you can very well control it if you are a diabetic. Knowing these levels is preferable as it keeps on your toes so that you take efforts to have better health.

According to current health events children suffering from obesity can easily develop cardiovascular diseases. Reports mention that even if you are not prone to heart diseases, due to obesity, children can be putting themselves at risk of having early symptoms and heart problems and other blood abnormalities.

In a current health event conducted by the Endocrine Society of Florida, it was made very clear that the obesity rate in children is growing at a very rapid speed and this is something of great concern as the side effects of obesity can be very catastrophic.

The current health events include obesity as a very hot topic among people all over the world and trying to find ways to combat this problem in the appropriate manner is a very important matter. The research done in children up to the ages of 10 years has been shocking and it has been found that the child is actually at the same risk of having serious cardiovascular diseases very early in life in comparison to other adults having obesity problems.

However, the most disturbing news maybe that till 2008, most parents did not worry too much about the obesity problems of their children and they did not know that this could have any bad effects on their health, now or later on in life.

Current health events also have come up with research and statistics of children suffering from high blood pressure, unhealthy cholesterol levels and metabolic syndrome. All these symptoms are related to early onset of heart and blood vessel related diseases. These conditions were only seen in adults and now, this discovery is extremely disturbing for all.

Current health events have taken a very strong stand on the aspects of children obesity and health professionals are busy trying to make parents understand the importance of good healthy habits in the whole family in general. It is very easy to preach to have a healthy lifestyle and a fitness regime or to try to be physically active; however, it is very difficult to set an example for your children to follow at the same time.

Another important factor that current health events are emphasizing is to take the help of your doctor in finding out whether your child is overweight or not and what other precautions should you take to try and help your child regain its balance to avoid further complications. The more you allow your child to be obese, the more you are putting him at risk of developing other problems which will become difficult to reverse.

Current health events have given a lot of emphasis on the development of a healthy lifestyle in your home. You as a parent will need to take full responsibility for what you put in your child’s plate and on how balanced is the nutrition and exercise program that your family follows on a regular basis. This will be the best preventive method of avoiding very painful situation later on in life.

Obesity poses a high risk for obese persons as they are most likely afflicted with high levels of bad cholesterol and other cardiovascular diseases. They seldom have a physical examination until they experience some trouble breathing or any other manifestations of an illness. What’s even more alarming is the increasing number of children who are obese and who may suffer a heart attack or cardiac arrest at such a very young age.

Obesity calls for prompt action so obese people and even those who are prone to get fat are advised to eat healthy foods and refrain from indulging themselves of fatty meals and snacks. Every man has problems with erection at a certain point of his life. Sooner or later the ability to get and maintain hard erections seems to fade away and there are many causes behind this. Erectile dysfunction doesn’t pop out just like cold, it’s a very complex issue that implies a complex bundle of actions to be prevented and treated. Yes, ED can be prevented and you will be surprised by how some of the ways you can do that are really easy. Well, at least on the paper. When it comes to improving one’s life through a simple change in lifestyle it’s much easier said than done.

Nevertheless, there are simple ways you can prevent ED from forming too early and extend your sexual activity to a much longer period of time. Proactive measures are always easier and less troublesome than the treatment itself so instead of taking ED pills later when the problem has shaped it’s better to make everything possible to prevent it. A simple change in lifestyle can have impressive benefits in the long run, so think well about the following possibilities to improve your sexual health the proactive and natural way.

Stay active

If you don’t have much physical activity in your life chances are high that you will develop ED earlier than your fit peers. Lack of physical activity leads to a variety of health complications such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, which in turn influence the development of impotence in men. Start jogging, running, swimming, cycling or enjoying any other type of activity to increase your overall fitness at least 3 times a week. Even if you have already developed a mild form of impotence this measure can drastically improve your sexual performance without needing any pills like Cialis.

Pay attention to what you eat

Getting fat at fast-food restaurants not only puts a serious pressure on your waist and cardiovascular system but also influences you sexual activity, and not in a very positive way. Staying on a fat-rich diet is the primary cause for cholesterol problems and such conditions as diabetes. These conditions are known to damage the blood vessels and nervous endings throughout the body and especially in such sensitive areas as the penis. And as we all know, blood circulation problems are the most common physiological cause for erectile dysfunction that people buy Cialis online for these days. Change your regimen towards healthier foods, eat more greens and less fats, and you will see serious improvements over some time. This is especially effective when you employ an active lifestyle rich with physical activity.

Say goodbye to bad habits

If you are a smoker it’s better to kick the habit for good. No cigarette taste is worth the ability to enjoy quality sex. Or you believe otherwise? The same goes for heavy drinking. Moderate alcohol consumption is not a big risk, moreover having a glass of good wine every day is known to be beneficial for the cardiovascular system (and we know how its health is crucial for potency). But if you are a heavy drinker don’t expect to have good erections for long. Recreational drug abuse is the same. Some drugs are known to increase libido for a short period of time but in the long run you are damaging your nervous and cardiovascular system to the point when erection is only a memory and no Cialis or Viagra can help you.
