Mercedes is one of the most famous company which are being under gone the manufacturing of luxury cars and of different models. The users of the Mercedes cars will definitely have a passion about changing the headlights of their own cars. For a car the appearance and beauty will not lies with the frame and design but it also goes with the way the headlights look. In the car front view headlights play a prominent role in the appearance. Mercedes had huge varieties of the car headlights. It has round shaped headlights and as well as pencil shaped headlights. It also has cross headlights. The entire above mentioned are very good incase of appearance and in both functioning of the car. Mercedes has designed in the best way for the headlights.

There are different types of the lights and are having different models of the headlights available in the market.

Some of them are of cone edged and some them are like having sharp edged and are also having different models. All the Mercedes headlights took the use of xenon gas for their functioning. The headlights designed are good when compared with the rest of headlights. In these days the white lights are having the growing importance and having much more demand when compared to the old yellow lights as they look beautiful and will help in bringing a new look to the car, so the headlights in these days are designing in such a way that they are all having either a complete white light or else the a single lining of the white light strip on the either edges of the headlight, it makes the headlights more brightness and can be used in the day time only the white lining in order to get a good look our car. the main thing that can be discussed here is the amount of power that will be consumed by these lights they consume less power because they are manufactured by the LED’s and as the LED are good in low power consumption.

Mercedes Headlights are good in saving power; it saves 50% of the power. It also proved to be the best Company that has got the first place to make to manufacture such lights which illuminate 5 times more that the normal and other company headlights. It achieves this because it uses a projector lens in the design of the headlights. The projector lens will be help full in projecting the light at greater distances. All the manufacturers of the headlights are using the projector lens, but when comes to the projector lens used by the Mercedes Company is a special one which is specially designed one for its performance. The Mercedes had not yet revealed the design pattern of the projector lens which is used by the Company. There are different type of shops which help the customer in choosing the headlights.

Headlights are the most important part of the automobile vehicles. Headlights are use for the purpose of the lights the road at the time of dark or while visibility is low. In the market various types of headlights are available. Headlights are of two types, High beam and Low beam. Different types of light sources are use in the headlamps such as Tungsten light sources, Tungsten-halogen light sources, Halogen infrared reflective light sources (HIR), Projector lamp and HID (xenon) light sources. And which headlights carry HID (xenon) light sources is called as Xenon headlights. Now a day’s many car manufactures provide Xenon headlights because of the advantages.

HID Xenon headlights mean High-Intensity Discharge. High intensity means the light ray is travels with very high speed and large intensity.

This very high intensity is developed in the bulb by metallic salt which is coated in the arc chamber. This Xenon lights was also known as Gas Discharge Lamp and now called as Xenon lamp. This Xenon bulb produces more light as compare to the normal Tungsten source or Halogen source in same amount of power. Because of high light manufactures are allowing to made small size bulb for the same power of halogen bulb and its effect on the compactness of the bulb. The small size of bulb is allowed to use the small headlight unit. The Xenon headlamps carry xenon gas thus property of gas allows to power up lamp quickly when electric current is provided. The color offered by this lamp is White which increases the visibility and color temperature is lies in between 4100K to 4400K while Tungsten and Halogen lamps temperature is only3000K to 3550K.

BMW was the first Automobile manufacturer who introduce Xenon lamp on the car in 1991 on Europe models and in 1993 was installed on United States models.

After the successful using of Xenon lamp on Cars many types of Xenon lamps are come into the market which is of different colors and types. Xenon headlamps are quiet more expensive as compare to the normal headlamps but they have very large advantages so today many of the automobile manufactures give the options of Xenon headlamps. Many of cars have the factory fitted Xenon Headlamps such as Many models of BMW, AUDI, Some models of Mercedes Benz and Selected models of Honda. Because of high demand of Xenon headlights many manufactures made good quality xenon lamps so availability is not a problem.

Xenon headlamps also have some drawbacks or disadvantages. Xenon lamp equipped vehicles also needs lens cleaning system for cleaning the lamp because of the glare created on headlight. 40% more glare is created by Xenon lamp as compare to the Tungsten- Halogen lamp. This glare reduce the visibility of lamp so to keep the good output from lamp the lens cleaning system is necessary. One more disadvantage is presence of Mercury contents. Because this Mercury contents the deposal of lamp after use is very difficult and need to be special process.

If one of your headlight bulbs has blown you are normally the last to know about it, driving around blissfully unaware that there is light only coming out of one headlight, whilst other drivers can clearly see that one of you car bulbs has blown. Once you know that a bulb has blown you then have to find the right replacement and install it. But how do you know that you are getting the best from your bulbs and is there a way to have them last longer?

In effect there are really just three types of car bulbs that you can install in your headlights and they are, standard halogen bulbs, modern upgrade xenon bulbs and heavy duty long life bulbs. When determining how long a headlight bulb should last its is well worth remembering the old adage that “The light that burns twice as bright, lasts half as long”.

Standard halogen bulbs, are the type of bulb which was fitted by the vehicle manufacturer at the factory and are normally full OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specification. These type of car bulbs will typically last between 350-400 hours of use and emit a reasonable level of light onto the road.

Upgrade xenon bulbs, like the Osram Night Breaker or Philips Extreme Power bulbs use xenon gas to produce a light up to 90% brighter than standard halogen bulbs, making night-time driving safer and less stressful, and because of their high performance construction they can be expected to last between 200-300 hours.

Finally there are long life headlight auto bulbs and, as their name suggests, they will certainly cut the amount of time you will need to spend replacing your car bulbs. By using reinforced heavy duty components you can expect a long life bulb to last over 50% longer than ordinary halogen bulbs, giving you an expected bulb life of 500-600 hours, whilst still producing the same light output as ordinary halogen bulbs. Long life car bulbs are slightly more expensive than their standard halogen counterparts, but are considerably more economical when you factor in their extra long life span.

When replacing the bulbs in your headlights it is recommended, and good sense, to change them both at the same time. Firstly if one bulb has blown the odds are very strong that the other one will blow shortly afterward, and by changing them together you wont have to repeat job for a while, and secondly if your bulb has comes to the end of its life span it will be past its optimum light performance output.

One final point to note when changing your headlight car bulbs is to not touch the glass with bare skin during the process. No matter how clean your hands are, bare skin will always leave a residual grease mark on the glass, this creates a hot spot on the and will eventually lead to a bulbs premature failure. So, to get the best from your headlights always change your bulbs in pairs, wear protective gloves during the process and pick the right type to suit your requirements.

It is very important to know the procedure of replacing your car’s headlight bulb as it may be required during any emergency situation where a mechanic may not be able to come for your rescue. Replacing a head bulb is relatively easy and constitutes only a few steps.

When the headlight bulb of your car goes off, then a new bulb has to be bought if you are not having a spare. Cars which have headlights with sealed beam have a different method to follow. This article mainly deals with process of replacing the basic car headlight bulbs.

No tools are required for replacing the headlight bulbs. Firstly, the car hood has to be popped open safely and the bulb holder is to be located behind the headlights. It is a trapezoid shaped plug with three wires emerging from it. Near the base of your car’s headlight you will find three wires are attached to a plug. The plug may be held by either by a metal clip, plastic catch, or a screw cap. Plug off these wires.

The old headlight bulb is to be taken out just by pulling it out, while holding the base firmly at its place. If it does not come out quickly, then you have to rotate it slightly. Hold the new bulb at the end and stick it at the rear side of the headlight in the same manner in which you had removed the previous damaged bulb. Now, the wires are to be plugged back in and the hood closed. The bulb can be tested by putting the lights on. If the light shines white and bright, then you are ready to go.
