Lifestyle choices unerringly paint very real and vivid pictures, so it is important to be alert to the ‘picture of health’ your particular choices are painting. Yes, we all know that diet is the foundation to good health, or at least we should; but did you know that improving your diet and lifestyle choices is not the only major weapon against disease? Consistent, high quality supplementation in the necessary amounts that can actually help your body to unleash its natural, built-in, restorative abilities is also extremely important.
However, just as all foods are definitely not created equal nutritionally, the same goes for nutritional supplements. All our foods today (including organic foods) are not what they were 100, 50, even 25 years ago! Depleted soils, food processing, preservatives, the use of pesticides and herbicides, food irradiation, pollution and stress all are major factors that have contributed in large measure to a nation of sick people. The evidence of this statistically is that one out of every three North Americans is expected to contract some form of cancer in their lifetime, and 50% of the population by age 40 will have chronic illness of some sort. But were you aware that, in theory, most of these people meet or even exceed their RDA’s (recommended daily allowance) in the varied components of what is considered to be ‘healthy’ nutrient consumption by so-called experts in nutrition?
That being said, it takes both a willingness to learn empowering truths, and a willingness to work at the essentials of good health. It is important to not get caught up in all the hype. Know that a healthy diet, consuming the right foods, and supplementing with high quality nutritional supplements is vital to good health, and essential to optimal healing. But, it goes even further… efficient digestion of nutrients and proper elimination of toxins are the absolute keys to success! Everything you consume, whether it is food or supplement needs to be properly digested and absorbed by your body to benefit. Even supplements can become serious toxins in the body when not properly digested, and can eventually take away from your picture of health.
