All my life I have been a very active person, and also a trim and slim one. I have never had a overweight issue, in fact during my twenties I desperately wanted to put weight on. So I would do body building exercises, lots of them. They were very boring and very hard work, but i suppose we’ve come a long way since then.

Actually, it is more fun to lose weight than to try to gain weight!

Being overweight can contribute to numerous health issues. i.e: diabetes; heart disease; Joint problems and many more health issues.

Losing weight will dramatically help to combat all of the above. If you have never done so then it might be a good idea to go and have your bma. (body mass index), checked by your GP.

1. You must set a few goals – without goals it is difficult to achieve your aim in anything

2. You must actually want to lose weight. Shake away that inertia!

3. Visualize yourself as a new creation. Start telling yourself daily that you are becoming thinner.

4. Eat plenty of high fibre foods eg. fruit, vegetables, wholegrain bread, oats, and there’s a whole lot more. They will fill you up so you eat less.

5. Start doing things like having a new hair cut or hair-do. You will suddenly look and feel better, especially with this gorgeous weather we’re having at the moment

6. You need water!

7. I don’t know where you live, but here in UK there are many organizations that conduct a weekly walk. It is usually free. You simply turn up on a designated day, say about 10 O’clock in the morning to join the rest of the group and begin to walk through some of the most beautiful green areas of London, or wherever you happen to live.

This is definitely one of the most enjoyable ways of keeping fit and losing weight. If there are no organized walks in your area, why not start one? You’ll find this a great way of shedding those pounds, and also meeting new people!

You could also start a group cycling program for people wishing to lose weight in your local area by putting up adverts in your local community areas and doctor’s surgery, on their notice board. Do it now while the weather is so beautiful, and have fun losing those pounds!

Have you noticed how people who fast often are never overweight?

Also, people who go to church on a regular basis are hardly ever overweight. There is something about worshiping and prayer, it does seem to regulate the metabolic system.

One of the most shocking thing about the whole experience of being overweight is finding that none of your favourite clothes fits any more!

Yes everyone it’s that time of year once again when many will eat as much as they can and then, go into “life reflecting mode” and will make New Year’s resolutions but break them within the first 3 months of the New Year. Guess what the number one New Year’s resolution is? You guessed it, losing weight.

Why do most people fail at weight loss?

So why do so many people fail at fat loss and what can you do to ensure your success for this new year? Well this is what this article is about so keep reading.

1. No silver bullet or magic potions.

The first thing you need to realize is that there is no magic weight loss pill or silver bullet for losing weight and getting in shape. Permanent weight loss requires consistent effort and some dedication. The first thing you need to do is stop looking for a short cuts.

Sure you will find many fad diets around and I guarantee you don’t even go looking they will find you, and you might see some mediocre results with some of these “quick fix” diets out there but none of them are sustainable and they will inevitably come to an end, so once the diet is over, so is the weight loss. Think about it, who can eat one meal a day with only 200 calories forever? That is not even living that’s torcher, and yet many people will fall for these diets with the hope of losing weight.

2. No real commitment or plan.

If you are serious about shedding pounds for good, and you want to increase your chances for success, then you must write down a plan, with your goals and your intended results. Most people start a program with no goals or real plans clearly defined. Write down what you want to accomplish (your overall goal) and break them up into smaller manageable and achievable increments. Write down why you need to lose weight, all your reasons and what your main motivating factor is.

Invest in a good weight loss personal journal, and have it close by so you can review your progress and goals often.

3. Embrace change with a positive attitude!

Make changes to your physical surroundings and I would suggest you start with your kitchen. Get rid of all the junk foods and fattening snacks and replace them with healthy wholesome nutritious foods. What some people fail to realize is that you can eat as much as you want and still lose weight! I am taking about great tasting foods that are just as great tasting and satisfying as the junk food, but with far fewer calories and extra junk. Eat to your heart’s content; you just have to make sure it’s the right kind of foods. Despite what you might have been told, all calories are not created equal, so make right food choices.

Dedicate a place in or around your home where you can do some simple workouts. You have to approach your mission like a business, and that’s because it is serious business! If you are going to go walking then identify a place that is close to home, convenient, and safe.

4. Seek out other like-minded people who will hold you accountable.

You should not try to do this on your own. You know that if left up to you, you might not feel like walking today, so you need others who will help to motivate you, keep you on track and it’s a lot more fun doing it with a partner who also wants the same thing.

5. Get a comprehensive weight loss system

Effective and permanent weight loss all starts with a high quality program. Whenever you are looking at a program make sure it incorporates the most important fat loss elements such as a proper nutritious diet with a sound, fulfilling dietary meal plans for your entire day with an extensive variety of recipes, a good workout plan that will boost your metabolism so you can supercharge your results, one that will support you along the way and includes great strategies and proven techniques for permanent losing the weight. You need a plan that will track your progress and evaluating your results as you move toward the body you have always wanted.

There are certain things that we can do in order to keep us on our weight loss plans and cure obesity once and for all. Remember that the biggest thing with any weight loss program is that its not about the program itself, rather how much you time and hard work you invest into your program. It’s 2011, a new year to start over and change the way we look forever. Below are some helpful weight loss tips to keep you on the right path in 2011:

1. Keep a Weight Loss Log- In this log make sure you track your exercise/workouts that you have completed for the day as well as what you have consumed on that day. Once a week, record your weight in your log and see your progress. Doing simple things like recording these things can really help you stick to your program.

2. Incentives- Tell yourself that if you can lose 8-12 pounds this month than you can reward yourself with buying that new pair of shoes tat you have wanted for some time now. Giving monthly incentives like this will also help keep you on track. Say one morning you get up and think about going to McDonalds, hopefully that new pair of shoes will come to your mind and you will have the self control to make a sandwich or grab a bowl of cheerios.

3. Change your Routine- Say you wake up at 8 am and have to be ready for work by nine. You usually work out in the afternoon when you get out of work but you usually skip two or three workouts per week because you are tired from the work day. Its a real simple fix. Instead of waking up at 8, wake up at 7 and go for a nice run or go to your local gym. You won’t miss a workout from being tired from your workday and it will actually make you feel good about yourself throughout the day.

Keeping a log, giving yourself incentives and making minor adjustments to your eating habits and daily routines can help get you on the right track for losing weight and becoming the new you. It’s possible and can be done with both hard work and dedication.

When writing booklets, you should stick to subjects you know about or are very interested in. Realize that people will believe you’re an expert on the subject because you wrote the booklet, so make sure what you write about is something you won’t mind being known for.

Here, then, in no particular order, are some timely topics as well as some evergreen ones for you to consider:

1) Pets – pets are the new kids for the boomers who now find themselves empty nesters, but you don’t need to focus only on boomers. Booklets for parents about how to choose the perfect pet for their family or child, or booklets about pet care would find a waiting market place.

2) Going Green – Anything to do with going green at home or in the office. This is huge among businesses right now. Booklets about how to go green in the work place will be welcomed.

3) Saving Money – as prices rise this is on everyone’s mind.

4) Making Money – This subject is always fresh. Everyone wants more.

5) Losing Weight – Ever wonder why there are so many diet books? It’s because the market for weight loss products and information is huge. There’s plenty of room here for your booklet.

7) Relationships – Anything from how to have a better marriage to how to find the perfect mate to how to get along with your boss. This is another timeless subject.

8) Health – My booklets fit into this category. You can write about ways to stay healthy or focus on a specific health issue. You could even write about health hazards in the work place. This is a very broad category.

9) Anything “how to” – “How to” books almost always do well. So do “how to” booklets.

10) Travel – A timeless classic that never goes out of style. Someone is always traveling. You could write about traveling for pleasure or for business.

11) Anything of interest to baby boomers – This is a very large segment of the population today. The market is wide open.

12) Parenting – Too many possibilities to list. Parenting teens, parenting toddlers, foster parenting, becoming a new parent, adoption, and the list goes on! Write about timely issues parents are facing today, such as internet safety, or write about something classic such as toilet training.

13) Education – Everything from how to get into the best pre-school to how to get into the best college. Homeschooling is a hot topic too.

14) Sex – I saved the best for last! This could fall into the relationships category or the health category, or it could be in a category all by itself.

There are tons of things you could write about. Think about what you know that could help someone else.
