They were very boring and very hard work, but i suppose we&#8217;ve come a long way since then.<br/><br/>Actually, it is more fun to lose weight than to try to gain weight!<br/><br/>Being overweight can contribute to numerous health issues. i.e: diabetes; heart disease; Joint problems and many more health issues.<br/><br/>Losing weight will dramatically help to combat all of the above. If you have never done so then it might be a good idea to go and have your bma. (body mass index), checked by your GP.<br/><br/>1. You must set a few goals &#8211; without goals it is difficult to achieve your aim in anything<br/><br/>2. You must actually want to lose weight. Shake away that inertia!<br/><br/>3. Visualize yourself as a new creation. Start telling yourself daily that you are becoming thinner.<br/><br/>4. Eat plenty of high fibre foods eg. fruit, vegetables, wholegrain bread, oats, and there&#8217;s a whole lot more. They will fill you up so you eat less.<br/><br/>5. Start doing things like having a new hair cut or hair-do. You will suddenly look and feel better, especially with this gorgeous weather we&#8217;re having at the moment<br/><br/>6. You need water!<br/><br/>7. I don&#8217;t know where you live, but here in UK there are many organizations that conduct a weekly walk. It is usually free. If there are no organized walks in your area, why not start one? You guessed it, losing weight.<br/><br/><strong>Why do most people fail at weight loss?</strong><br/><br/>So why do so many people fail at fat loss and what can you do to ensure your success for this new year? Well this is what this article is about so keep reading.<br/><br/><strong>1. No silver bullet or magic potions.</strong><br/><br/>The first thing you need to realize is that there is no magic weight loss pill or silver bullet for losing weight and getting in shape. Permanent weight loss requires consistent effort and some dedication. The first thing you need to do is stop looking for a short cuts.<br/><br/>Sure you will find many fad diets around and I guarantee you don&#8217;t even go looking they will find you, and you might see some mediocre results with some of these &#8220;quick fix&#8221; diets out there but none of them are sustainable and they will inevitably come to an end, so once the diet is over, so is the weight loss. Think about it, who can eat one meal a day with only 200 calories forever? Keep a Weight Loss Log- In this log make sure you track your exercise/workouts that you have completed for the day as well as what you have consumed on that day. Once a week, record your weight in your log and see your progress. Doing simple things like recording these things can really help you stick to your program.<br/><br/>2. Incentives- Tell yourself that if you can lose 8-12 pounds this month than you can reward yourself with buying that new pair of shoes tat you have wanted for some time now. Giving monthly incentives like this will also help keep you on track. Say one morning you get up and think about going to McDonalds, hopefully that new pair of shoes will come to your mind and you will have the self control to make a sandwich or grab a bowl of cheerios.<br/><br/>3. Change your Routine- Say you wake up at 8 am and have to be ready for work by nine. You usually work out in the afternoon when you get out of work but you usually skip two or three workouts per week because you are tired from the work day. Its a real simple fix. Cortisol can be good in small amounts but high levels can lead to an increase of abdominal fat, which can lead to heart attacks, strokes and can also increase your bad cholesterol levels and decrease your good cholesterol levels.<br/><br/>High levels of cortisol can also decrease your bone density, leading to osteoporosis and loss of muscle tissue, which will also slow down your metabolic rate, and it can also increase your blood pressure along with other problems.<br/><br/>Each of you will react differently to stress; some of you will produce more cortisol to a particular stress while others will produce less.
