Healthy eating is important for proper growth in kids. Parents want to give their children a variety of nutrient-enriched food and drinks to help them to grow stronger and healthier. Usually, life patterns are set in childhood and early puberty. Following a healthy diet routine and using healthy recipes will give them the benefit of enjoying a strong body for the rest of their adult lives.

Healthy recipes for kids can be prepared by knowing facts about the food we eat. There is high-protein, high-fiber food that works for kids, and nutrient-empty, processed junk food that works against them. Studies show that on average, kids receive around thirty-eight percent of their daily calories from fats. The bad fat is responsible for creating free radicals in the body, which harm our good cells–including the brain cells. This fat negatively contributes towards obesity, heart disease, allergies, and other harmful conditions.

Sensible diets make sure that your kids are well, prevent the risk of developing dangerous diseases, and keep the foundation for solid mental as well as physical health. Junk food and unhealthy food can leave your child open to food hazards and infection, especially during rapid growth periods.

Statistics show that the obesity rate in kids is four times higher than it was in 1960s.This leaves children more susceptible to problems like diabetes, growth disorders, and sometimes even cancer.

Good food doesn’t mean bland taste. Kids can easily be lured to eat healthy food by presenting it in a colorful and decorative manner. The carrot will look enticing if it is shaped like a cartoon figure, spinach can taste yummy if combined with a dash of cheese, and cereals will be wiped clean from the dish if presented in attractive serving plates. The trick is to educate them about the food, list the benefits, and make kids feel that they are eating something special and different each day.

The Role of Animal Fat in Women’s Health

In order to keep a slim figure, many young women don’t eat any animal fat in their life. However, this is unscientific, and is harmful to their health.

Moderate intake of fat has great significance to the health of young girls. When girls enter puberty, there are a series of changes in the endocrine system. For example, the subcutaneous fat is increased, which constitutes a woman’s unique figure.

As a result, girls need more fat at this stage, in order to regulate the endocrine system and form a healthy figure. An important sign of young girls is the rosy and soft skin, in which fat plays an important role. Subcutaneous fat can make the skin smooth but not shrinking, resilient but not loose. Fat can promote the absorption of soluble vitamin, which is very important for the health of the skin. It is no exaggeration to say that the role of fat in the health of skin can not be replaced by any high-end cosmetics.

Fat is also one of the most important materials for the growth, development and maturation of women. And it is also an important source for normal menstruation and fertility for the women. Fat plays an important role in the synthesis of sex hormones in the body. Studies confirm that the fat content in women should reach 17% of the body weight, so as to keep normal menstruation. If women don’t take in any animal fat, there will be a lack of body fat, which may result in the shortage of estrogen. Therefore, it will cause menstrual disorders, and even affect the development of reproductive organs.

In some sense, a certain amount of fat in the body can enhance the ability to resist the invasion of some diseases. For ordinary adults, the content of fat accounts for about 15-20% of the weight, and the ratio for women should be slightly higher than that. It has been measured that if one starves for one to three days, 85% of the energy of the body needs to be supplemented by the fat accumulated in previous time. So it can be seen that if there is too little fat in one’s body, once the person is sick or injured or can not eat, his body will be significantly thinner, and it will be difficult for him to resist diseases.

In the current psychology of “fear of fat”, people should clearly realize that moderate intake of fat every day is a necessary condition for the health of women. Actually, some chemical elements in animal fat (such as propanetriol and aliphatic acid) play an indispensible role in the growth of the body. In order to keep physical fitness, women need not to reject animal fat, but should turn to more exercise.

Many of have used or at least heard the terms, oh its growing pains, he’s going through a growth spurt, or he’s got raging hormones. These are common terms that some of us use when referring to our children from a health point of view.

We have come to take these terms lightly. So if someone were to ask us, well what is causing the growing pains or the growth spurt, we might not be able to answer, other than, well he’s growing. So the better question is what makes him grow? The answer to that is the endocrine system contained in his/her body.

The endocrine system is responsible for regulating the metabolism, growth development and puberty, as well as tissue function and moods. Now some of these you may understand better than the others. For example, you understand the growth development ,puberty and moods, but you’re not too sure about metabolism and tissue function. So lets talk about them.

Metabolism is a word you probably know, but perhaps one that you don’t know what it means. Anyone referring to the endocrine system will most surely use this word at some point. You may be familiar with it when it comes to weight loss. It is often used in that context when it comes to burning excess fat, and the body isn’t doing it fast enough then it is said to have a slow metabolism.

So getting back to the kids, what does it have to do with them? By finding the answer to what is metabolism will answer that question. Metabolism as we know it in the endocrine system, in simple terms means that a series of chemical actions must take place in anything that is living, in order to keep it alive. It is this set of chemical reactions that take place in your child’s body that allows him or her to grow. It does this by keeping the proper structures of the cells in the body, and allows them to respond to what’s around them.

Another term we are familiar with is hormones. Well that’s what part of the endocrine system function is, to release hormones. We referred to tissue function. The first basic thought is skin right? Yes this is part of it but there’s more. The simple definition of tissue, is a group of different cells that all come from one specific place to bond together, to form tissue. Once this grouping takes place then in is called an organ, and will have a specific function to carry out.

So where does this all fit in with the care of our children. I mean if we give them nutritious food, make sure they get their vitamins, and their proper sleep then everything should be just fine. Yes everything should be fine, but is it great? I, just like you, want the very best for my kids. I have come to believe that I need to know a bit more about the endocrine system which is critical to not only keeping them alive, but to be able to grow into healthy productive adults. To gain this knowledge doesn’t mean I have to go to medical school. There is much material available to day regarding the human body that is easily read and understood by everyday Moms and Dads.

While children usually get all the vitamins they need from their foods if given a proper diet, nutritional supplements may be needed to help kids get the right minerals. Children often dislike the deep leafy greens that are iron-rich foods, and may need to get iron from nutritional supplements instead.

Kids and adolescents sometimes need nutritional supplements containing iron to prevent anemia. Babies who drink milk instead of formula may also need nutritional supplements containing iron. Once they start on solid foods, babies who don’t eat iron-enriched cereals may also need nutritional supplements containing iron. Adolescent girls are also susceptible to anemia when they hit puberty, especially if they have heavy periods, and nutritional supplements may help.

In addition to nutritional supplements containing iron, some children may need nutritional supplements containing calcium. Calcium is necessary for strong teeth and bones. Children who don’t like milk or who have milk allergies may prefer to get their calcium from nutritional supplements. Supplements of calcium are also found in many nutritional products that are fortified with calcium, such as certain brands of orange juice.

Even if your children take multivitamins, they may still need nutritional supplements for calcium, since many only contain 20 percent of the minimum daily requirement.

So nutritional supplements for iron and nutritional supplements for calcium may be important for your children, and there’s another: nutritional supplements for fluoride. Fluoride builds healthy teeth. Although most municipal water systems include fluoride in the water, if you use well water your children may need to take supplemental fluoride. Make sure they aren’t getting it from other sources, however, because too much fluoride can stain teeth.
